MCT-175 is a humanized monoclonal antibody that was developed for the treatment of multiple sclerosis (MS), specifically the relapsing-remitting form of the disease. Developed by MultiCell Technologies, the drug was designed to target the underlying cause of MS rather than providing symptomatic relief. Its mechanism of action involves the selective targeting and modulation of disease-specific autoaggressive T-cells, which are responsible for the immune-mediated destruction of the myelin sheath surrounding nerve cells. In preclinical studies, MCT-175 demonstrated the ability to ameliorate disease symptoms in animal models of MS. However, the drug has not progressed into late-stage clinical trials, and its development appears to have been stalled or discontinued following the mid-2000s.
