Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MCT-SR is a sustained-release (SR) formulation of rebamipide developed to improve treatment compliance and patient convenience in the management of gastritis. Rebamipide is a gastroprotective agent that promotes mucosal defense, healing, and repair by increasing prostaglandin production, scavenging free radicals, and enhancing mucus secretion in the gastrointestinal tract. The SR formulation allows for less frequent dosing compared to immediate-release forms. MCT-SR has been evaluated in phase 3 clinical trials for efficacy and safety in patients with acute or chronic gastritis[2].
