Overview

MD 2009 is a preclinical-stage small molecule neuraminidase inhibitor being developed by AusBio for the treatment of influenza. While traditional neuraminidase inhibitors like oseltamivir target the enzyme's active site to prevent viral release, MD 2009 is characterized by a distinct mechanism of action compared to existing therapies. This novel approach is intended to provide efficacy against influenza strains that may have developed resistance to current standard-of-care treatments. The project is currently undergoing preclinical evaluation to determine its safety and therapeutic potential.
