Overview

MD-TISSUE is a collagen-based medical device developed by Guna S.p.a. specifically for the treatment of tendon-related conditions, including tendinopathies and tendon injuries. The product is composed of porcine-derived Type I collagen, which is supplemented with ancillary substances including ascorbic acid (Vitamin C), magnesium gluconate, pyridoxine hydrochloride (Vitamin B6), riboflavin (Vitamin B2), and thiamine hydrochloride (Vitamin B1). MD-TISSUE functions as a mechanical scaffold that stabilizes and reinforces the extracellular matrix (ECM) of the tendon tissue. By providing this structural support, it influences the morpho-functional properties of tenocytes, thereby promoting the physiological repair process and improving joint mobility while reducing pain. It is typically administered via local injection (periarticular or intra-articular) to the affected area.
