Overview

MDA-5 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to silence the expression of the melanoma differentiation-associated protein 5 (MDA-5), also known as interferon induced with helicase C domain 1 (IFIH1). MDA-5 is a cytosolic pattern recognition receptor that detects double-stranded RNA (dsRNA) and triggers innate immune responses. In the context of pulmonary arterial hypertension (PAH) research, MDA-5 siRNA has been used to demonstrate that loss of MDA-5 signaling in pulmonary artery endothelial cells (PAECs) leads to increased apoptosis and impaired cellular homeostasis, contributing to the pathogenesis of pulmonary hypertension. This agent is primarily used as a research tool in molecular biology and experimental pathology to investigate the MDA-5/IL-10RA signaling axis.
