MDA-TIL is an autologous tumor-infiltrating lymphocyte (TIL) therapy developed by the M.D. Anderson Cancer Center. The therapeutic process involves the surgical resection of a patient's tumor tissue, from which naturally occurring T cells (TILs) are harvested. These cells are then expanded to large numbers ex vivo using high-dose interleukin-2 (IL-2). Once expanded, the MDA-TIL product is re-infused into the patient, typically following a lymphodepleting chemotherapy regimen consisting of cyclophosphamide and fludarabine. This approach leverages the ability of TILs to recognize a diverse, polyclonal array of tumor-specific neoantigens. Following infusion, patients usually receive IL-2 to support the survival and proliferation of the transferred T cells. MDA-TIL is currently being evaluated in Phase II clinical trials for the treatment of recurrent or refractory solid tumors, specifically ovarian cancer, colorectal cancer, and pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma.
