Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**MDC-GRT** is an investigational long-acting injectable formulation of **tacrolimus** being developed by **Medincell** for the prevention of graft rejection in **organ transplant** recipients. The program uses Medincell's BEPO long-acting delivery technology to provide sustained subcutaneous exposure to tacrolimus, a calcineurin inhibitor immunosuppressant already widely used in transplantation. The stated development rationale was to improve adherence to lifelong immunosuppressive therapy and potentially reduce tacrolimus-related peak-trough variability and associated adverse effects. Public company disclosures indicate the program entered regulatory preclinical development, but was later discontinued for strategic reasons before clinical development was established.
