Overview
mdc-WWM is a preclinical, long-acting injectable contraceptive under development by MedinCell. It utilizes a non-medroxyprogesterone acetate (non-MPA) progestin molecule and is designed for subcutaneous administration using the BEPO technology platform. The formulation is fully bioresorbable and intended to provide contraceptive efficacy for six months per injection. The program aims to deliver an affordable, best-in-class product with global access, particularly targeting emerging economies. Preclinical activities and initial clinical studies are supported by up to $19 million in funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation[1][2][3][8].
