Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MDMA prodrug is a preclinical-stage small molecule prodrug designed by Terran Biosciences to be a long-acting form of 3,4-methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA). Engineered with a side chain modification, the prodrug is designed to improve pharmacokinetics, extend the duration of action, and potentially eliminate the need for booster dosing (redosing) during MDMA-assisted psychotherapy. In animal models, the prodrug has demonstrated a longer duration of action with a reliable pharmacokinetic profile. It is intended for the treatment of neuropsychiatric and psychiatric indications, such as post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) and major depressive disorder (MDD).
