MDPK67b is a recombinant protease inhibitor developed by Med Discovery SA for the treatment of prostate cancer. It is designed to target and inhibit human kallikrein-related peptidases (KLKs), specifically KLK2, KLK4, and KLK14. These serine proteases are downstream targets of the androgen receptor (AR) and play significant roles in prostate cancer progression and the transition to castration-resistant states. By inhibiting these secreted KLKs, MDPK67b aims to downregulate AR signaling, reduce cell proliferation, and induce apoptosis in tumor cells. The drug has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials for safety and pharmacokinetics in healthy volunteers and in Phase Ib studies for preoperative treatment in patients with untreated prostate cancer.
