MDV1634 is a small molecule, reversible inhibitor of monoamine oxidase B (MAO-B) that was developed by Medivation for the treatment of Parkinson's disease. MAO-B is an enzyme responsible for the oxidative deamination of dopamine in the central nervous system; by inhibiting this enzyme, MDV1634 aims to increase the availability of dopamine and alleviate the motor symptoms associated with Parkinson's disease. The drug was evaluated in a Phase 1 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled multiple ascending dose (MAD) study (NCT02325336) to assess its safety, tolerability, and pharmacodynamic effects in patients. Following the acquisition of Medivation by Pfizer in 2016, the development of MDV1634 was discontinued and it is no longer listed in the active clinical pipeline.
