ME28zT2 is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy being developed by Wellington Zhaotai for the treatment of mesothelin-expressing solid tumors, including pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, and gastric cancer. The therapy utilizes T cells engineered to express a CAR targeting mesothelin (MSLN), a cell-surface glycoprotein that is highly expressed in several malignancies while having limited expression in normal tissues. The CAR construct incorporates a CD28 co-stimulatory domain and a CD3-zeta signaling domain (indicated by the '28z' in its name) to enhance T-cell activation, proliferation, and anti-tumor efficacy upon antigen recognition. Currently in the preclinical stage of development, ME28zT2 represents a targeted immunotherapy approach aimed at addressing the high unmet need in mesothelin-positive cancers.
