ME3241

ME3241 is an investigational anti-PD-1 agonist monoclonal antibody being developed through a collaborative research effort between Meiji Seika Pharma and the Foundation for Biomedical Research and Innovation at Kobe (FBRI). Discovered via a joint program led by Kyoto University, ME3241 is designed to treat inflammatory and autoimmune diseases by inducing immunosuppression. This mechanism of action is the functional opposite of PD-1 antagonist therapies used in oncology; instead of blocking the PD-1 pathway to activate T-cells, ME3241 activates the PD-1 receptor to dampen overactive immune responses. The drug is currently undergoing Phase I clinical evaluation in Australia to assess its safety, tolerability, pharmacokinetics, and pharmacodynamics.
