Drug intelligence / Profile preview
ME610 is a small molecule agonist of liver receptor homolog-1 (LRH-1, also known as NR5A2) developed by researchers at Emory University. It was designed with improved solubility, metabolic stability, and pharmacokinetic properties compared to previous LRH-1 agonists. In preclinical studies using a novel humanized LRH-1 mouse model, ME610 demonstrated target engagement and efficacy in diet-induced obesity and Type II diabetes models. Treatment with ME610 improved glucose and insulin tolerance, reduced intrahepatic fat deposition, and decreased liver and fatty depot weights. Transcriptional profiling indicates that ME610 restores liver homeostasis and reduces inflammation by activating pathways that limit free fatty acid import and enhance beta-oxidation.
