Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The measles and rubella vaccine (live), specifically the combination of the Schwarz FF-8 measles strain and the TO-336 rubella strain, is a live attenuated biologic developed by Takeda Pharmaceutical for active immunization against measles and rubella. Marketed in Japan under the brand name Takeda, this freeze-dried vaccine is reconstituted for subcutaneous administration. The Schwarz FF-8 strain is a further attenuated variant of the Schwarz measles strain, while the TO-336 strain is a rubella vaccine strain primarily utilized in the Japanese market. The vaccine works by inducing a protective immune response, including the production of neutralizing antibodies and cellular immunity, against both the measles morbillivirus and the rubella virus.
