Drug intelligence / Profile preview
The Measles-Rubella vaccine is a live attenuated viral vaccine developed and marketed by Zydus Lifesciences. It is a bivalent vaccine designed to provide active immunity against both the measles virus and the rubella virus. The vaccine works by stimulating the immune system to produce antibodies and cell-mediated immune responses against the attenuated strains of the viruses. It is typically administered via subcutaneous injection as part of pediatric immunization programs to prevent measles (rubeola) and rubella (German measles) infections and their associated complications. The vaccine is part of routine pediatric immunization schedules and has received marketing authorization as a biologic product.
