MEB-1170 is a clinical-stage, oral small molecule analgesic developed by Mebias Discovery for the treatment of pain and prevention of opioid use disorder. It acts as a G protein-biased agonist at the mu-opioid receptor, aiming to provide effective pain relief comparable to morphine and oxycodone but without typical opioid side effects such as respiratory depression, sedation, constipation, tolerance development, or abuse liability. Preclinical studies have shown that MEB-1170 does not induce drug-seeking behavior or self-administration in animal models and may prevent opioid misuse.
