Overview

MEBBzT2 is an investigational chimeric antigen receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy developed by Wellington Zhaotai for the treatment of solid tumors overexpressing mesothelin (MSLN), such as pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, and gastric cancer. The therapy involves engineering T cells to express a CAR construct that specifically binds to mesothelin, a cell-surface glycoprotein. The construct incorporates a 4-1BB (CD137) co-stimulatory domain and a CD3-zeta signaling domain (indicated by the 'BBz' suffix), which are designed to enhance T-cell activation, expansion, and long-term persistence within the tumor microenvironment. Currently in the preclinical stage, MEBBzT2 is part of Wellington Zhaotai's T2 platform, aiming to provide a targeted and durable anti-tumor response in patients with refractory solid malignancies.
