Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mebivo Plus is a fixed-dose combination pharmaceutical product developed by Rebrace Pharmaceuticals, containing mebeverine hydrochloride and chlordiazepoxide. Mebeverine is a musculotropic antispasmodic that acts directly on the smooth muscle of the gastrointestinal tract, particularly the colon, to relieve spasms without affecting normal intestinal motility or producing systemic anticholinergic side effects. Chlordiazepoxide is a benzodiazepine anxiolytic that enhances the inhibitory effects of GABA in the central nervous system, thereby reducing the emotional and psychological stress that often triggers or exacerbates functional gut disorders. Mebivo Plus is approved for the treatment of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS), spastic colon, and other gastrointestinal conditions associated with smooth muscle spasm and anxiety, such as diverticulitis, biliary colic, and spasms related to gastric or duodenal ulcers.
