Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mebhydrolin is a first-generation antihistamine of the ethylenediamine class used for symptomatic relief of allergic symptoms caused by histamine release. It is indicated for conditions such as allergic rhinitis, urticaria (hives), pruritus (itching), conjunctivitis, and other allergic dermatoses. Mebhydrolin acts primarily as an antagonist at the histamine H1 receptor, thereby blocking the effects of endogenous histamine and reducing allergy symptoms. As a first-generation antihistamine, it can cross the blood-brain barrier and may cause sedation or other central nervous system effects. It also possesses antimuscarinic properties[1][4][5][7].
