Overview

Mecapefilgrastim is a long-acting, pegylated recombinant human granulocyte colony-stimulating factor (G-CSF) analog. It is designed to stimulate the production of neutrophils by binding to the G-CSF receptor on hematopoietic cells in the bone marrow, thereby promoting proliferation and differentiation of neutrophil precursors. Pegylation extends its half-life compared to non-pegylated filgrastim, allowing for less frequent dosing. Mecapefilgrastim is primarily developed for reducing the incidence and duration of neutropenia in patients undergoing myelosuppressive chemotherapy.
