Overview

Mecasin (KCHO-1) is a multi-component herbal medicine developed by Primo Biotech, derived from Traditional Korean Medicine. It is a standardized extract of nine herbs: *Curcuma longa*, *Salvia miltiorrhiza*, *Gastrodia elata*, *Chaenomeles sinensis*, *Limonium tetragonum*, *Casuarina equisetifolia*, *Glycyrrhiza uralensis*, *Atractylodes macrocephala*, and *Panax ginseng*. The drug is primarily developed for the treatment of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS) and Alzheimer's disease. Its therapeutic effects are attributed to its multi-target approach, including anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and neuroprotective activities, which aim to inhibit neuronal cell death and slow disease progression. Mecasin has advanced to Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical trials in South Korea.
