meclocycline

Meclocycline is a tetracycline antibiotic primarily indicated for the treatment of susceptible skin infections, bacterial vaginitis, vulvovaginitis, and cervicitis. It is classified as a broad-spectrum bacteriostatic agent that inhibits bacterial growth by reversibly binding to the 30S subunit of the bacterial ribosome—specifically at protein S7—thereby blocking aminoacyl-tRNA from associating with the ribosome and inhibiting protein synthesis. This mechanism ultimately prevents bacteria from producing proteins necessary for their reproduction. Meclocycline has also been investigated in clinical trials for oral mucositis. Its primary use has been topical or investigational rather than systemic[1][4].
