Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mecopiprazole (YN001) is a novel small molecule multi-target modulator developed by Yantai Innoe Biotechnology for the treatment of Alzheimer's disease. It functions as a partial agonist at the 5-HT1A and dopamine D2 receptors and as an antagonist at the 5-HT2A receptor. This pharmacological profile is designed to address both the cognitive deficits and the behavioral and psychological symptoms of dementia (BPSD) by balancing serotonergic and dopaminergic neurotransmission. The drug is currently undergoing clinical evaluation in China, having completed initial Phase 1 safety and pharmacokinetic studies.
