Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mecxin OD is an oral pharmaceutical product developed by Stevia Pharmaceuticals, featuring a once-daily (OD) tablet formulation of 1500 mcg methylcobalamin. Methylcobalamin is a biologically active coenzyme form of Vitamin B12 that plays a critical role in the one-carbon metabolism pathway and the maintenance of the nervous system. It is primarily indicated for the treatment of Vitamin B12 deficiency and associated neurological conditions, such as peripheral neuropathy. By acting as a cofactor for the enzyme methionine synthase, methylcobalamin facilitates the conversion of homocysteine to methionine, a process essential for DNA synthesis and the maintenance of the myelin sheath that protects nerve fibers.
