MED2002

MED2002 is a topical gel formulation developed by Futura Medical for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED). The active ingredient is glyceryl trinitrate (GTN), a vasodilator that acts as a nitric oxide donor. The formulation utilizes Futura's proprietary DermaSys transdermal delivery technology, which is designed to facilitate the rapid absorption of GTN through the glans penis. Once absorbed, GTN promotes the relaxation of vascular smooth muscle and increases local blood flow, leading to an erection. MED2002 is characterized by a rapid onset of action, typically within 5 to 10 minutes, allowing for greater spontaneity compared to oral PDE5 inhibitors. This candidate served as the precursor to MED2005, a refined 0.2% GTN formulation marketed under the brand name Eroxon.
