Overview

MED2005 is a topical gel formulation of glyceryl trinitrate (GTN), developed using Futura Medical’s proprietary DermaSys transdermal drug delivery technology. It is designed for the treatment of erectile dysfunction (ED), particularly in men with mild to moderate ED. The mechanism of action involves local delivery of GTN to the glans penis, where it acts as a nitric oxide donor, leading to vasodilation and increased blood flow that facilitates erection. MED2005 has demonstrated rapid onset of action—often within five minutes—and may be suitable for patients who cannot use oral phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors due to contraindications or side effects. Clinical trials have shown efficacy and safety with minimal adverse events compared to traditional oral therapies[1][2][3][7][9].
