MED29 lentiviral vector is a gene therapy tool designed to deliver and overexpress the Mediator complex subunit 29 (MED29) gene. MED29 is a component of the Mediator complex, a multiprotein assembly that facilitates the transcription of protein-coding genes by bridging transcription factors to RNA polymerase II. In pancreatic cancer research, MED29 has been identified as a target gene within the 19q13 chromosomal locus, which is frequently amplified. This specific lentiviral vector was developed by researchers at the Institute of Medical Technology in Tampere, Finland, to investigate the functional role of MED29. Studies using this vector in pancreatic cancer cell lines (such as MIAPaCa2 and Hs700T) and mouse models have demonstrated that MED29 overexpression significantly impacts cell proliferation, survival, and tumor growth, suggesting its role as an important regulator in the pathogenesis of pancreatic cancer.
