Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MEDCAN GC01 is an oral medicinal cannabis capsule product developed by Medcan Australia. Each capsule contains 8 mg of delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (THC), the primary psychoactive constituent of the cannabis plant. THC acts as a partial agonist at cannabinoid receptor 1 (CB1) and cannabinoid receptor 2 (CB2), which are G-protein coupled receptors involved in the endocannabinoid system. MEDCAN GC01 is available in Australia via the Therapeutic Goods Administration (TGA) Authorised Prescriber Scheme or Special Access Scheme (SAS Category A/B) for various medical applications, though it is not registered on the Australian Register of Therapeutic Goods (ARTG).
