MEDI-534 is an investigational **live-attenuated intranasal bivalent viral-vectored vaccine** developed by MedImmune for prevention of respiratory syncytial virus and human parainfluenza virus type 3 disease in infants and young children. It is a recombinant chimeric bovine/human parainfluenza virus type 3 construct: a bovine PIV3 backbone incorporates human PIV3 fusion and hemagglutinin-neuraminidase glycoproteins and expresses the respiratory syncytial virus fusion glycoprotein. Intranasal replication of the attenuated vector is intended to induce mucosal and systemic immunity against both RSV and PIV3. Clinical development reached a completed Phase 1/2a study in infants and young children; published analyses reported limited RSV F immunogenicity and transgene-sequence heterogeneity or stability concerns.
