Overview

MEDI9314 is a fully human monoclonal antibody that acts as an antagonist of the interleukin-4 receptor alpha (IL-4Rα). It was developed by MedImmune (now part of AstraZeneca) for the treatment of atopic dermatitis. The drug functions by inhibiting IL-4Rα, thereby blocking signaling from both interleukin-4 and interleukin-13, which are key cytokines involved in type 2 inflammatory responses. Clinical development reached phase 1 trials in healthy volunteers but was discontinued after this stage[1][2][3][4].
