Overview

Mediclore is a poloxamer-based thermosensitive sol-gel anti-adhesion barrier developed by CGBio. It is composed of a mixture of Poloxamer 407, Poloxamer 188, and Sodium Alginate. The formulation is unique for its temperature-dependent phase transition: it remains a low-viscosity liquid (sol) at room temperature, facilitating easy application to complex surgical sites, and transforms into a highly viscous gel at body temperature. This gel serves as a physical barrier to prevent tissue surfaces from adhering during the healing process. Mediclore is primarily used in spinal surgeries to prevent epidural fibrosis and in breast cancer surgeries involving axillary lymph node dissection to reduce the risk of restricted shoulder motion and axillary web syndrome. It is currently marketed in South Korea for various surgical applications.
