Overview

Medrysone is a synthetic glucocorticoid used as a topical ophthalmic agent for the treatment of various ocular inflammatory and allergic conditions, including allergic conjunctivitis, vernal conjunctivitis, and episcleritis. It acts by binding to intracellular glucocorticoid receptors, modifying gene expression to induce anti-inflammatory proteins and inhibit inflammatory mediators. This results in reduced edema, fibrin deposition, capillary dilation, leukocyte migration, collagen deposition, and scar formation. Medrysone has less effect on intraocular pressure compared to other corticosteroids like dexamethasone or betamethasone[1][2][5][6].
