Medtronic IN.PACT refers to a family of drug-coated balloon (DCB) catheters used in percutaneous transluminal angioplasty (PTA) procedures for the treatment of peripheral artery disease and obstructive lesions in arteriovenous dialysis fistulae. The primary mechanism involves physical dilation of the vessel lumen with a balloon catheter that is coated with paclitaxel and an excipient (urea), enabling local delivery of the antiproliferative agent directly to the vessel wall. This reduces neointimal hyperplasia and restenosis following angioplasty. The device is available in several versions—IN.PACT Admiral for femoropopliteal disease and de novo or restenotic lesions; IN.PACT 018 for similar indications but compatible with smaller guidewires; and IN.PACT AV specifically indicated for use in native arteriovenous dialysis fistulae[1][3][4]. All are developed by Medtronic.
