Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MEE-SA01 is a novel Rosenblumvirus bacteriophage being developed for the treatment of Staphylococcus aureus infections, including endophthalmitis and keratitis. It targets and lyses S. aureus, including biofilm-forming clinical isolates. In preclinical studies, MEE-SA01 has demonstrated rapid in vitro antimicrobial and antibiofilm activity against both log- and stationary-phase planktonic cells, and has shown synergistic effects when used sequentially with vancomycin to disrupt biofilms formed on intraocular lenses (IOLs).
