Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Mefalin P is a combination pharmaceutical product marketed by Emblazon Life Sciences under its Aura Brand. It is a fixed-dose combination typically containing mefenamic acid, a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), and paracetamol (acetaminophen), an analgesic and antipyretic. Mefenamic acid works by inhibiting the cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), which reduces the synthesis of prostaglandins that mediate pain and inflammation. Paracetamol provides complementary analgesic and antipyretic effects, primarily through the inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis in the central nervous system. This combination is commonly used for the symptomatic relief of mild to moderate pain and fever, particularly in pediatric populations or for conditions such as dental pain and dysmenorrhea.
