Overview

Mefuparib (CVL218) is a small molecule poly (ADP-ribose) polymerase (PARP) inhibitor, specifically targeting PARP1 and PARP2. Developed by Convalife Pharmaceutical, it is designed to treat various malignancies by inhibiting DNA repair mechanisms, leading to synthetic lethality in cells with existing DNA repair deficiencies, such as those with BRCA mutations. It is currently being evaluated in Phase 1 clinical trials for the treatment of advanced solid tumors, including glioma, cholangiocarcinoma, and pancreatic cancer. Beyond oncology, mefuparib has also been investigated for its potential in treating COVID-19 due to its ability to inhibit viral replication and modulate inflammatory responses.
