MEG3-conjugated PLGA nanoparticles are an experimental nanotherapeutic formulation designed for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). This system utilizes poly(lactic-co-glycolic acid) (PLGA) nanoparticles as a delivery vehicle for the long non-coding RNA (lncRNA) Maternally Expressed 3 (MEG3). MEG3 is a well-characterized tumor suppressor that is frequently downregulated in various malignancies, including liver cancer. By conjugating MEG3 to PLGA nanoparticles, the therapeutic RNA is protected from enzymatic degradation and its delivery to tumor cells is enhanced. Once inside the cell, MEG3 restores regulatory control over key pathways, such as the p53 signaling axis, thereby inhibiting cell proliferation, inducing apoptosis, and suppressing tumor growth. This approach represents a novel strategy in RNA-based cancer therapy, aiming to correct epigenetic and transcriptional dysregulation in HCC.
