Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MegaCart is an allogeneic human-derived acellular cartilage matrix (ACM) developed by L&C Bio for the treatment of articular cartilage defects, particularly in the knee. Produced using the company's proprietary AlloClean technology, the product is processed to remove cellular components and potential immunogens while preserving the structural integrity and bioactive components of the natural cartilage extracellular matrix. MegaCart serves as a bioactive scaffold that supports the recruitment, proliferation, and chondrogenic differentiation of endogenous cells, facilitating the regeneration of hyaline-like cartilage. It is typically used in conjunction with microfracture surgery to enhance the quality of the repair tissue compared to microfracture alone. MegaCart received marketing approval from the South Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) in late 2022.
