Drug intelligence / Profile preview
MegKal is an oral nutraceutical combination tablet developed by Bion Therapeutics, specifically formulated to support women's health, bone density, and cardiovascular wellness. It contains calcium carbonate (providing elemental calcium), cholecalciferol (vitamin D3), and menadione (vitamin K3). Calcium carbonate serves as a primary mineral source for bone mineralization, while cholecalciferol enhances intestinal calcium absorption by activating the vitamin D receptor (VDR). Menadione acts as a cofactor for gamma-glutamyl carboxylase (GGCX), facilitating the carboxylation of osteocalcin and matrix Gla protein, which helps direct calcium to the bones and prevents vascular calcification. MegKal is marketed in India for the prevention and treatment of calcium and vitamin D deficiencies, osteopenia, and osteoporosis, particularly in women.
