Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Meglumine cyclic adenylate (also known as meglumine adenosine cyclophosphate or meglumine cAMP) is a small-molecule cyclic AMP (cAMP) analog and phosphodiesterase inhibitor. It is a 1:1 compound of cAMP and meglumine, which improves the water solubility and membrane permeability of cAMP. Meglumine cyclic adenylate acts as a non-glycoside positive inotropic agent and vasodilator, raising intracellular cAMP levels to enhance myocardial contractility, improve cardiac output, and reduce myocardial oxygen consumption. It is approved and widely used in China for the treatment of cardiovascular conditions, including heart failure, myocarditis, sick sinus syndrome, coronary heart disease, and cardiomyopathies. Additionally, it has been investigated preclinically for acute spinal cord injury, systemic inflammatory response syndrome, and cerebral ischemia/reperfusion injury.
