MeGLA is an investigational aqueous salt formulation of gamma-linolenic acid with meglumine, developed for local intravesical administration in recurrent superficial bladder cancer. Gamma-linolenic acid is an omega-6 polyunsaturated fatty acid; MeGLA showed direct cytostatic and cytotoxic activity in cancer-cell models, although a discrete molecular target has not been established. In a Phase II study in recurrent superficial transitional-cell bladder cancer, a single intravesical instillation was tolerated and produced complete or partial tumor responses in some participants.
