Meitoxin

Meitoxin (美多信) is a topical antibiotic ointment containing mupirocin, developed by Hangzhou Zhuyangxin Pharmaceutical. It acts by specifically and reversibly binding to bacterial isoleucyl-tRNA synthetase, which inhibits the incorporation of isoleucine into bacterial proteins, thereby halting protein synthesis. This unique mechanism of action is distinct from other antibiotic classes, which helps minimize cross-resistance. Meitoxin is primarily indicated for the treatment of primary and secondary skin infections caused by susceptible gram-positive bacteria, including *Staphylococcus aureus* (including methicillin-resistant strains/MRSA) and *Streptococcus pyogenes*. Common clinical applications include the treatment of impetigo, folliculitis, boils, and secondary infections associated with eczema or minor traumatic wounds.
