MEK1 siRNA is a small interfering RNA (siRNA) designed to specifically target and silence the expression of the MAP2K1 gene, which encodes the Mitogen-Activated Protein Kinase Kinase 1 (MEK1). MEK1 is a key component of the Ras-Raf-MEK-ERK signaling pathway, which is frequently dysregulated in various cancers, including bladder cancer. By inducing the degradation of MEK1 mRNA through the RNA interference (RNAi) pathway, MEK1 siRNA inhibits downstream ERK signaling, leading to reduced cell viability, migration, and invasion, and increased apoptosis in tumor cells. In research settings, it is often used to validate the functional roles of MEK1 or to mimic the effects of tumor-suppressive microRNAs that target the same pathway.
