Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Melaleuca tablet is an investigational oral botanical drug candidate being developed by the Shanghai Public Health Clinical Center for the treatment of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC). The drug is derived from extracts of the Melaleuca plant genus, which is known to contain various bioactive compounds, including triterpenoids such as melaleucic acid that have demonstrated preclinical anti-tumor activity through the induction of apoptosis and inhibition of tumor cell proliferation. As of 2021, Melaleuca tablet entered Phase I clinical development (ChiCTR2100051434) to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in healthy adult volunteers, including assessments of the impact of food on its absorption and bioavailability.
