**Melan-a26-35 peptide** is a synthetic decapeptide (sequence: EAAGIGILTV) derived from the region 26–35 of the Melan-A/MART-1 melanoma antigen protein, which is highly expressed in primary and metastatic human melanomas and some normal melanocytes. As an immunogenic peptide, it is recognized by CD8+ cytolytic T lymphocytes (CTLs) in the context of HLA-A*0201, making it a widely studied, tumor-associated antigen for experimental cancer vaccines and immunotherapy research. In vitro and preclinical studies demonstrate that Melan-A(26-35) can effectively stimulate antigen-specific CTLs, which selectively lyse melanoma cells presenting this peptide on HLA-A2. It is also commonly used as a research tool for assessing immune responses to melanoma, and as a comparator to more potent analogs (notably the A27L analog, ELAGIGILTV) in immunological studies. No evidence of approved pharmaceutical or branded drug product based on this peptide alone could be identified; its role is primarily as a research reagent and immunotherapeutic candidate peptide.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
