MELASMAX is a topical triple-combination therapy developed and marketed by Laboratorio Dominguez for the treatment of melasma and various hyperpigmentation disorders. The formulation integrates three active components with complementary mechanisms: tretinoin, hydroquinone, and dexamethasone. Tretinoin, a retinoid, promotes epidermal cell turnover to accelerate the shedding of pigmented cells. Hydroquinone serves as a skin-bleaching agent by inhibiting the enzyme tyrosinase, which is essential for melanin synthesis. Dexamethasone, a corticosteroid, is included to reduce skin inflammation and irritation typically associated with topical retinoids and hydroquinone, while also helping to suppress melanocyte activity.
