Melaxin is an autologous cellular vaccine developed for the treatment of malignant melanoma. It functions as an immunotherapy by creating "dendritomas," which are hybrid fusion cells formed by combining a patient's own tumor cells with their dendritic cells. These dendritomas are designed to present the full repertoire of tumor antigens to the immune system, thereby stimulating an anti-tumor immune response. In clinical trials, Melaxin has been investigated for its efficacy in Stage IV malignant melanoma, administered subcutaneously in combination with Bacillus Calmette-Guerin (BCG) injections.
