Melitide

Melitide is a branded biosimilar formulation of liraglutide, a long-acting analog of human glucagon-like peptide-1 (GLP-1) that functions as a GLP-1 receptor agonist for subcutaneous injection.[1][3] It is developed and marketed in Iran as a once-daily injectable pen primarily for the treatment of adults with inadequately controlled type 2 diabetes mellitus, improving glycemic control and promoting weight loss by enhancing glucose-dependent insulin secretion, suppressing glucagon, delaying gastric emptying, and reducing appetite.[1][3] In a randomized phase 3 noninferiority trial in adults with type 2 diabetes, Melitide demonstrated noninferior HbA1c reduction and a safety and immunogenicity profile comparable to reference liraglutide (Victoza), supporting its use as a cost-effective GLP-1 receptor agonist option in this setting.[1][2]
