melitropic

Melitropic is a standardized herbal extract derived from *Melissa officinalis* (lemon balm), developed by the Iranian Institute of Medicinal Plants (IMP). It is primarily indicated for the treatment of mild to moderate Alzheimer's disease. The therapeutic effects of Melitropic are attributed to its multi-target mechanism, which includes the inhibition of acetylcholinesterase (AChE) and the modulation of muscarinic and nicotinic acetylcholine receptors, thereby enhancing cholinergic transmission. Additionally, the extract exhibits antioxidant and neuroprotective properties that may mitigate neurodegeneration. Clinical evidence supports its efficacy in improving cognitive function and reducing behavioral symptoms such as agitation in patients with dementia. It is formulated as an oral capsule and is approved for use in Iran.
